THE SAMPLE
She was thinking. To any observer, it would seem like the ghost was simply another part of the stonework found throughout the Abbey- silent and unmoving as the large carved pieces of granite. Only her eyes- her bright, two toned eyes- moved, following the path of two small fish as they danced around in one of the ponds. It was a miracle they lived, Kavar reflected; between the dangers of being hunted and the environmental circumstances they lived in- never able to move beyond the stone confines of the wall, trapped in the same stale water…but yet, they managed. They lived in apparent bliss, dancing and playing under the surface of the water. In a small way, Kavar envied the simplicity of their life; they did not have to worry about wars, supernatural forces and complex societal tendencies- no. They just had to worry about their food, and their water. Goddammit, Kavar thought to herself, why couldn’t I just be reincarnated as a fish?
She closed her eyes, sighing softly. Even though she longed for that simplistic life, even if the chance for it came along, she knew deep in her heart she would never take it. Her desire for justice, for freedom- that had been ingrained in from her first years of life. The desire to do what was right, even if it was the hardest path to take- that was how Kavar had lived. And that desire continued now, even after her death. Legion was her new purpose and mission in life- to get rid of the Malevolents. To return the world to its natural order. But even after a year, Legion was so scattered. Banshee, Merlot, Kavar- they all struggled. With Remington’s firm insistence that the Kingdom was to have nothing to do with Legion…it made the whole situation tense. Kavar was glad for Merlot’s patience; he had been working as a mediator as such between the two groups, and that much she appreciated. Personally, she did not have the patience dealing with the Queen’s stubborn nature- they were too much alike to work together well.
She was about to stand when she heard the voice, echoing through the corridors of the Abbey. The echoes reverberated around her, and Kavar watched as the perfectly smooth surface of the water ripple slightly. Speak of the devil. Kavar moved quickly, already knowing that whatever Merlot had to say, it would be important. They- much to Kavar’s disappointment- talked about little more than developments with the Kingdom and the Malevolents, and more then likely it was concerning one of the two, if not both topics.
She moved through the stone walls until she located the other ghost, lingering around an entrance to the building. Kavar smiled slightly, and phased into sight, the green and orange glow brightening for a moment around her before dimming to its more normal aura.
“Hello, Merlot. What brings you here?”
