THE PACK !Contextual information for the clueless.
The pack was founded by a female wolf near three hundred years ago; a wolf who had sought refuge after her own home had been destroyed in a civil war. With a loner who she had met on her travels, she soon gave birth to a large litter of pups. These pups, and- later- their respective families, were the origins for what the pack is today. The pack (with exception) follows a simple, traditional pack format, with the ranks in more depth below. While there was no particular belief system held by the founding wolves, a couple of beliefs/faiths have become commonplace (see below). The Pack have lived in the city, and comprises both of relations of the founding families, also of loners who have sought out a home within the Pack.
RANKS
ELDERS >> UP TO FIVE
While not the most powerful, assuredly the most respected rank a wolf can hold within the Pack. The Elders are past Alphas and Betas (or the mates of past Alphas and Betas). They work as both advisors to the current Alphas, as well as working inside the packs as teachers and story tellers. Respectable wolves over the age of ten are also considered 'Elders'; if a wolf of a senior age is not given this rank, they are giving a demotion to Omega.
ALPHAS >> UP TO TWO
Alphas are the current leaders of the Pack. They have the final say in anything, and hold the power every power- from calling meetings, to killing/exiling/demoting traitors/criminals in the city. Do not have to be mated.
BETAS >> UP TO TWO
Do not have to be mated. Betas handle the pack in a much more 'practical', 'hands on' sort of a way. They often mingle with Deltas, Gammas and Omegas, organising hunts, welcoming new members of the pack. They have the power to call trials, deal out punishment, reward Deltas, organise hunts and directly deal with the Alphas and Elders.
GAMMAS >> UP TO TEN
The knights- the protectors of the Pack. These wolves work in protecting the other pack members from outside threats; including large predators (Cougours and the occasional bear have been rumoured to wander through the city) or wandering loners with vicious intents. They will also work in settling disputes between Deltas and Omegas, organise hunts and generally watch over the well being of the pack, especially the sick and injured. Have the power to deal out minor punishment and minor rewards.
DELTAS >> UNLIMITED
Deltas are the everyday citizen of the city; they are the lifeblood of the pack. These are the middle ground for ranks, and are comprised of hunters, fighters, and everything in between. They are not tasked with lower forms of work like Omegas, or higher forms like Betas or Gammas; unless a lack of numbers or proper places filled calls for it.
OMEGAS >> UNLIMITED
Any wolf under the age of three or over the age of ten in the Pack is to be considered an omega, unless special consent/treatment is given. These are the physically weaker of the pack, though they are to be treated with the same respect as a Delta- unless they have been dealt the rank in form of demotion for dishonourable behaviour.
BELIEFS
The most commonplace belief going throughout the pack is that of a singular deity named Morak. Every interpretation is different, but people claim he is the singular spirit that brought wolfkind to prominence after the fall of the humans, and blesses and curses wolves accordingly even to this day.
